What Finger News

Well, there is no surprise here.  The federal government seems to be in the business of withholding exculpatory evidence.  Justice Department prosecutors did it in the Bundy Ranch trials, and it appears the FBI did it in Oregon concerning one of their own snipers lying about shooting at LaVoy Finicum in 2016.  Now, Congressman Devin Nunes (R-CA) says the FBI withheld exculpatory evidence when they filed applications to spy on Carter Page, a former investment banker and foreign policy adviser for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

Chuck Ross reports:

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes claimed Monday that the FBI and Justice Department failed to include exculpatory evidence in surveillance warrant applications against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

“There is exculpatory evidence that we have seen, of classified documents that need to be declassified,” Nunes said in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

“Exculpatory in nature in what way? Exculpatory in what way?” Hannity asked.

“In that the Carter Page FISA when the judges should have been presented with this exculpatory evidence that the FBI and DOJ had,” Nunes replied.

In an interview, Nunes laid out three areas of interest that House Intelligence Republicans have in their investigation into possible abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

Nunes and other Republican members of the committee recently asked President Trump to declassify 21 pages from the FBI’s fourth and final FISA warrant application. Nunes claimed in an interview on July 29 that Americans “will be shocked” when they see the 21 pages.

None of this is surprising given the things we’ve had revealed to us already that a political opponent paid a foreign entity for an unsubstantiated and debunked dossier on her political opponent and that dossier was used to obtain a FISA warrant to spy on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump.

That same dossier claimed that Page met with two Kremlin insiders during a July 2016 trip to Moscow and that he was directly involved in a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russian government to influence the election.  Page has denied the allegations.

Nunes also said that his committee was interested in learning the role of Justice Department official Bruce Ohr’s role in the Trump-Russia investigation.

“Bruce Ohr is going to become more and more important in this investigation, and I think people should pay close attention to it,” Nunes told Hannity.

That’s because Ohr provided the FBI with lots of information, or perhaps misinformation, from his meetings with former British spy Christopher Steele, and even more interesting is that his wife, Nellie Ohr, who worked for Fusion GPS during the campaign.  You recall, Fusion GPS hired Steele in June 2016.

Yeah, this whole thing is so twisted and corrupt, I’ll be surprised if they can unravel it all.  They certainly aren’t going to do it before November.

After all, we know that the Justice Department, even under Donald Trump, released heavily redacted versions of the four Page FISAs on July 21.  There is no doubt that many of those redactions were in place to protect the guilty.  What do you think?
