What Finger News

With all the media hype and many candidates for President – whom should you vote for? I cannot tell anyone whom he or she should vote for, that is a decision each person must make for themselves.

You have to ask yourself some questions:

  1. What are the candidate’s values – do these values line up with yours?
  2. What does the candidate stand for? Against?
  3. What is the candidate’s position on current issues?
  4. How long has the candidate held these views?
  5. Is the candidate trustworthy – does he or she do as they promise or speak of?
  6. Does the candidate’s voting record correlate with his or her spoken words?
  7. Where is the candidate on Christian issues – defending Christian’s rights?

Are you looking for change in our country or more of the same? Under Obama our country has taken a serious nose-dive into the sewer. All cannot be blamed on Obama he had willing help after all. However, that being said: Obama is the president and he spearheaded dangerous and damaging changes.

If you are looking too not upset the status quo, looking for more of the same – then perhaps socialist nutcase Bernie Sanders is your man. Or maybe you prefer the queen of lies and power hungry Hillary Clinton. Either one would be a certifiable disaster for this country in my opinion.

On the other side of the fence there are really only two viable candidates as I see it: Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. The question is who is the better candidate to entrust with our country’s future?

Donald Trump

Trump has changed his position from pro-choice to pro-life. Being pro-life however – Trump refuses to really define that position and brushes off questions on it. He has said there must be exceptions say for incest and rape – why does the innocent baby need to pay for the father’s sins? This begs the question is this a genuine change of position or a political flip-flop?

Where does Trump stand on same-sex marriage? He was at one time in favor of civil unions while claiming to be against same-sex marriage. Trump has recently suggested he would be in favor of appointing judges to the Supreme Court that would rule against same-sex marriage. Yet Trump wishes the same-sex marriage issue was handled at the state level. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for marriage being between one man and one woman.

Where does Trump stand on Christianity? He has recently vowed to defend Christians and said; “We’re going to protect Christianity” according to a recent article in The Hill.

While that is great, what The Donald himself – where does he stand personally? When asked what his favorite Bible verse was, he would not name one. Trump also miss-named a book in the Bible calling Second Corinthians – Two Corinthians. There really is little evidence to support Trump as being a Christian.

Then there is also the issue of the many off-color comments Trump has made – does this strike anyone as presidential? The president among many other hats worn is supposed to be diplomatic – not a shoot from the hip say what you will kind of guy. I understand that Trump says it like it is in many cases and this gives him broad-based appeal. However lets face it, do we want a sometimes-crass individual in the Commander in Chief’s chair? Remember Reagan did not mince words either – the difference being he knew how to make a point without resorting to the types of inappropriate comments made by Trump.

Ted Cruz

Where does Ted Cruz stand on abortion? He has consistently stood against abortion and in fact voted to defund Planned Parenthood – the largest abortion provider in the country. Cruz has as well promised to appoint conservative judges to the Supreme Court warning: “If anyone but him is elected president, the Supreme Court will shift liberal”, according to an article on Think Progress.

Cruz is against same-sex marriage holding to the biblical belief that marriage is between one man and one woman. Cruz has repeatedly spoken in favor of traditional marriage and had previously introduced a bill that would have shielded states that defined marriage as being between one man and one woman.

Ted Cruz has as well openly said Jesus is his Lord and Savior and even testified to the effect that the saving grace of Christ has had on his own family.

George W. Bush has recently said of Cruz: “I just don’t like the guy”. Now why do you suppose that is? Does it maybe have something to do with the fact that Cruz when he was Texas Solicitor General stood up to Bush? A Texas court had sentenced Jose Medellin to death for the rape and murder of a 15 year-old girl. George W. Bush stated that the courts would abide by the International Court of Justice ruling that the U.S. had violated the Vienna Convention and therefore had to reconsider the ruling on Medellin.

Cruz is seen as being not well liked in some circles – might that be because he stands for what is right instead of what is politically correct and politically expedient?

The big question

This is not nor was it meant to be an all-inclusive review of candidates. The question remains of course who you the reader should vote for. I cannot and would not tell anyone who to vote for, that is not my job – that decision is your job, and yours alone. Answering for yourself the questions I previously posed will help determine who you think is the best candidate.

Chose well – the one who sits in the Commander in Chief’s chair will have a huge impact on this country: for good or for evil.

Now you choose…
