It is said that the only things that are certain in this life are death and taxes. Taxes are a certainty of course but death is not. Death will come for most but not all.

If you are alive and working, rest assured you will pay taxes, even if you don’t work – you will still pay taxes when purchasing something – so taxes are inevitable. But what of death?

For those remaining when Jesus returns – those who believe in Christ that is, these will not die but rather be “caught” up in the air with Him.

Even in the Old Testament there were two who did not die but went to be with God. Enoch (Genesis 5:24) who “walked with God”, was taken up to heaven without dying. Elijah did not die but went up to heaven in a whirlwind – 2 Kings 2:11.

The statement “the only things in life that are certain are death and taxes” is missing something that is even more certain – God. It should be said, “the only things in life that are certain are God and taxes”.

There is a God – how can we be certain of that? Look around you – can you look at this world we live in with it’s mountains, trees, animals, sunsets, weather, people – and think this all just happened by chance? Only a fool says in his heart there is no God (Psalm 14:1).

Take animals – the Axolotl can regenerate limbs, parts of its brain etc. The Opossum is immune to bee, snake, and scorpion venom. There are birds that can migrate back to their home from thousands of miles away – having never been there before. Bird’s bones are hollow; they have no bladder – efficiently designed for flight. Chance or design by God?

Humans? Human beings are so complex that science still can’t decipher all that we are, despite our huge advances in technology and learning. The human body is incredibly complicated. The brain alone is a wonderland of complexity that makes the most sophisticated computer look tame by comparison. Try having a computer match up with Beethoven’s musical brilliance – Michael Angelo’s artistic talents. And we as humans happened by chance or evolution? Not hardly – we happened through the creative talents of God Almighty!

How about the Bible? What other religion’s holy book accurately foretells the future? – None. The Old Testament gives over 300 prophecies concerning Christ, all of which came true in the New Testament. The Bible is also the only holy book that does not contradict itself.

The New Testament also makes prophecies – some of which are happening now. There will be a great falling away from Christianity before the end – that is happening right now. Sin will reign supreme – also happening now. People will seek out churches that say what they want to hear – also happening now.

Who is the most talked about and written about figure in history? Jesus Christ.

Why are the most popular religions popular? Because they cater to man’s whims in some way.

The Christian Bible is not centered on man but on God and tells it like it is. We are all sinners, imperfect people who can do nothing to save ourselves, nor can we earn salvation in any way. The Bible paints no rosy picture but simply presents the truth.

Jesus was whipped to within an inch of His life, taunted unmercifully, and crucified – He suffered a very degrading death. Why put all this in the Bible? – because it is the truth. Who saw the resurrected Christ first? – a woman. Unheard of for a woman in that time to have anything to do with anything of importance. Again, why put that in the Bible when in that time it looked bad? Women were to be seen and not heard in that time. Because it is the truth, the truth does not need to hide behind political correctness like today.

The thing about the truth is – it does not have to look and sound good, you don’t have to like it or agree with it, but that does not change the fact that it’s still the truth.

Why do you think that Christianity and those associated with it are increasingly persecuted and hated? Because it’s the truth the one constant truth that will never change. People don’t like being told what they don’t want to hear. Why else would people hate Christianity and Christians?

The followers of Islam can commit gruesome murders, rape women, kill women for imagined crimes, sell women and children like property – and they are accepted better than Christians are. What does this tell you?

You may suffer for standing for Christ – but those who stand against Christ will suffer far more.

Taxes are certain – and so is God. One way or another we will all stand before God in the end – are you ready? Will Jesus upon His return claim you as His own?

God bless you all.
