Publisher’s Note: It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant and ridiculous some people in this country are.

Forty-seven republicans sent a letter to Iran basically stating the truth – that any treaty agreed to by President Obama is executive agreement only – as in non-binding unless ratified by Congress. Since they did this, a petition was organized calling for Obama to prosecute these senators for treason – treason!

These senators have been labeled with the hashtag #47Traitors on Twitter. This is absolutely preposterous.

Let me get this straight: President Obama can break the law at will, issue executive orders to effectively go around Congress at will thereby negating the checks and balances built into our constitutional government and get away with it. Obama can pick and choose which laws he will enforce and those he will not (which he did even with Obamacare), and get away with it.

The accused supposedly broke the law by violating the Logan Act – which states that unauthorized U.S. citizens may not negotiate with foreign governments. Lets see now – first these senators did not negotiate anything! They merely informed Iran of how our government works. Second, these very same senators would be part of the approval process to ratify any agreement between the US and Iran.

I fail to see the problem here.

More than 159,000 people have signed a petition calling on the White House to file charges against 47 GOP senators who sent a letter to Iran stating that any nuclear agreement between the Obama administration and the Islamic Republic would be null and void without support from Congress.

Posted on the website “We the People” on Monday, the petition claims that the GOP senators violated federal law when they sent the letter to Iran.

“Forty-seven senators saw fit to issue a condescending letter to the Iranian government stating that any agreement brokered by our president would not be upheld once the president leaves office,” reads the petition.
